La Règle du Carmel

Des clés interprétatives pour une relecture contemporaine

Abstract

The present article was delivered as a talk in a conference at the Carmelite Centre d’Études de l’Histoire de la Spiritualité in Nantes.  The Rule of Carmel has been foundational in the development of Carmelite spirituality and mysticism. Considered as one of the major  Rules of Consecrated Religious Life it has inspired many in the spiritual path. Drawing from the major studies on the Rule of Carmel,  this contribution aims at offering some interpretative keys bringing together various insights on this short but spiritually dense text.  The author argues that as an open text, the Rule, appears to be alive in the manifold ways of abiding into the mystical space it leads to.
