P. Kees Waaijman, O.Carm (1942-2023)

Abstract

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, former professor of spirituality and former scientific director of the Titus Brandsma Institute, Kees  Waaijman o.carm passed away from us at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his fellow sisters and brothers and by the sounds that had  shaped his being, that had never ceased to shape his being all these years and continue to grow - to put it in the words of his fellow  brother Titus Brandsma o.carm: to blossom like a flower in the sun. Those sounds, those were the words of the psalmist, the words  that brought him to life, that preserved the tenderness of his soul from the all too presumptuous meddling that can be peculiar to  men. That tenderness, in his eyes, was reserved for the praise of God, to which Kees Waaijman had devoted his life forces and faculties in the most radical consistency.
