Monastère Saint-Élie & Schitul Sfânta Cruce, Au Skite de Stânceni, l’Églisede la Transfiguration du Christ
Abstract
This very handsome volume presents itself as a guidebook to the amazing Church of the Transfiguration, the new chapel built for the young community at the Skete of the Holy Cross, in Stânceni, Romania. The monastery is a daughter house of the visionary Monastery of Saint Elias, in Saint-Rémy, near Montbard in France. The Motherhouse in France is one of three Discalced Carmels in the world within the Eastern Churches, which worship in the Byzantine Rite (these are Sofia in Bulgaria, Harissa in Lebanon, and Sugarloaf in the U.S.A.) To this number are now added two new Carmels in Central Europe, one in Uzhgorod in the Ukraine (a foundation of Sugarloaf, U.S.A.) and the community presented in this book, the Skete of the Holy Cross in Stânceni, Romania (foundation of France).
