Carmelite Spirituality in Dutch schools of secondary education
Abstract
In what way do Dutch schools of secondary education inculturate Carmelite spirituality? We give some insights in the historical processes and the way Stichting Carmelcollege adapted to it. Titus Brandsma o.carm. challenges us to see beyond the reality of language, images and other externalities, and to appreciate the values in our day to day reality. The values that were central to Titus Brandsma in 1929, can be recognized in the work of Stichting Carmelcollege nowadays. Carmelite schools choose for ‘impassioned pedagogy’ and describe this as nourished by Carmelite spirituality.
