Antonio Pennazzi e il Convento Nuovo di S. Antonioin Palestrina
Resumen
The Cronaca (Chronicle), composed in 1688 by the “Carmelite from the Province of Emilia” Antonio Pennazzi, author of other works dedicated to the Order, makes possible a detailed reconstruction of the rich and ordered historical and artistic reality of the Church of S. Antonio del Carmine. This church was first linked to the Colonna family, and then to the Barbarinis. It is an interesting artistic and architectonic offspring of the Civitas Praenestina, with respect also to the important book fund of the adjacent Fantoniana Library. Through the pages of the manuscript, partularly the Titles, never edited until now, the more attentive reader will be guided to the discovery of important works, ornaments, furnishings and hand-crafted objects that are well worth seeing more closely, as in the case of the wooden Choir of Giovanni Mandelli.
